United States isn’t closing the border, but is advising people not to come to Mexico

Several universities in Illinois, currently the state with the most infected population inside the United States, have canceled trips to Mexico and have advised its students not to come to our country.
Skelton, a student, said that he was worried about the swine flu but that he would have still come to Mexico, if Western Illinois, his university, had allowed him to.
“I was worried at first, but then I thought that Mexico would be a great country to travel to”, Skelton said.
In 2008 approximately 9,500 Americans students came to Mexico to study via exchange programs with several universities. According to the International Institute of Education, Mexico is the seventh most popular destination for American students.
However, most universities decided to cancel those exchange programs and in the worst-case scenario, some universities have asked those students already in Mexico to return to the United States.
Among the universities who adopted such measures were the University of Wisconsin, the University of Memphis, the University of Georgia, and the University of Georgia, Michigan and Minnesota.
All these universities supposedly asked the press for discretion on this matter because they didn’t want to be misunderstood. Fortunately for us none of their students got sick, otherwise we would be hearing complaints about Mexico’s lack of sanitary security.

United States are taking measure security that are not necessary, because they only causing feer and panic among the population. Univeristies told there students not to come to mexico because they said that they could get infected with the Swing Flu, eventhough the virus first appear in his country. Mexico is one of the most popular places for students of the unidet states because they make exgeanges but with this problem the Universities told themo not to come because they say that they wolud die, the tursim in Mexico is declining so is like a circle buecause if the turism is affected our economy is also to. I have notice that Unidet States is taking a rong position because instead of helping us is just affecting more our economy eventhough they are the responsable for the first crisis all the world lived. Also they say that they are not going to close the border because they wnated to help us but instead they are affecting us more in other aspects like making the world panic about us, and all the actions Univeristies like Giorgia, Minnesota, take.

  2. I think that most people in the United States (especially college students) may have a "skewed" view of what is really going on with the Swine Flu in Mexico. This is probably a direct result of our media portrayal of the virus. As an American college student, I do think it is wise for American universities to take special precautions to ensure the safety of their students studying abroad in Mexico. Even if the swine flu in Mexico isn't nearly as bad as the media in the US is portraying it to be, the university would still have to take some form of liability in the case that one of their students contracting the virus while studying abroad in Mexico.

i think the world is thinking very bad about mexico, just because here is a disease it doesn't means the end of the world, that's why we're taking care of ourselves for not getting infected.

In my opinion, I think that American universities are taking extreme measures, because the cancellations of exchanges to Mexico, are showing discrimination
to our country, and this could cause problems in the close relationship we have with USA, because if later appointed as chairman of the neighboring nation, decided to close its borders with Mexico, our people would be upset and trade relations or friendship with that nation.
Moreover, it would seriously affect the economy of our country as some countries have closed their flights to our country, and that affects our tourism economy, and if USA were to close its borders with Mexico, the above only worsen .
